This interview is part of the We Love Erie Business Collective Get to Know the Owner series.

Today, we’re excited to introduce Kelly Block, the owner of Tape and Twine, Erie’s local print, pack, and ship hub, and a business built on service, creativity, and community connection. More than just a shipping and printing center, Tape and Twine has become a trusted resource for individuals, families, and small businesses looking for high-quality service, thoughtful solutions, and a genuinely welcoming experience.

Founded in April 2022, Tape and Twine was created to make everyday business and personal tasks easier — whether that’s shipping a care package, designing custom signage, printing marketing materials, or creating meaningful gifts. Kelly’s vision was simple: combine professional-grade services with a small-town, relationship-first approach to build a business that truly serves the community.

About Tape and Twine

Tape and Twine is Erie’s friendly neighborhood print, pack, and ship destination, offering full-service shipping, printing, promotional products, signage, banners, and private mailboxes — all in one convenient location. The shop also provides essential business services, including passport photos, fingerprinting, faxing, scanning, laminating, and notary services, making it a true one-stop resource for both residents and business owners.

What sets Tape and Twine apart is the experience. The shop operates as a high-touch, high-service business, prioritizing customer care, attention to detail, and personalized support. Whether someone walks in knowing exactly what they need or needs guidance and ideas, the team meets them where they are — making the process is efficient, approachable, and stress-free.

Anything you can order through large online platforms like VistaPrint or FedEx, Tape and Twine can often handle locally — frequently faster, with better service, and with a personal touch. Most printing is done in-house, allowing for quick turnaround times and real-time collaboration. The team works within each customer’s budget, helping ensure they make the right decisions for their business or personal needs.

Tape and Twine ships with all major carriers and assists with prepaid shipping labels, including Amazon returns, while navigating carrier-specific rules with transparency and care.

Beyond printing and shipping, the shop also offers curated retail and gifting options to brighten any package, including Erie spirit wear, senior banners, homecoming banners, and seasonal items that make every visit a little more fun.

For businesses, Tape and Twine supports clients through:

  • Fast, efficient workflows that respect business owners’ time

  • Design support that makes professional branding accessible

  • Real-time guidance, creativity, and problem-solving

From business cards and yard signs to large-format printing and branded materials, Tape and Twine helps businesses create a consistent, professional presence across storefronts, online platforms, events, and everyday operations.

It’s more than printing and shipping — it’s helping people show up confidently in their business and in their lives.

And if you’ve ever stopped in, you know there’s always something unexpected — from bottle-feeding baby goats, to puppy training moments, to Buddy the Elf during the holidays. Tape and Twine isn’t just a service stop — it’s part of the fun of doing life in Erie.

Get to Know Kelly

Kelly Block is a Colorado native, a mother of three, and a passionate community builder. She earned her undergraduate degree from CU Boulder and her Master’s in Public Administration from CU Denver, bringing a strong foundation in entrepreneurship, leadership, and community development into her business journey.

Kelly opened Tape and Twine with a clear purpose: to create a place where residents and business owners could get high-quality services without sacrificing warmth, ease, or connection. She believes great service is about relationships — knowing your customers, understanding their needs, and showing up consistently with care and reliability.

“I started this business because so much had moved online, and there wasn’t always a real person to turn to anymore,” Kelly shared. “I wanted people to have someone who truly cared and could help. I love being part of people’s milestones — graduations, homecomings, celebrations — and being a small piece of those moments in their lives.”

Her passion for small business, community support, and collaboration extends beyond her shop. Kelly also serves as Chair of the We Love Erie Business Collective, helping shape initiatives that support local businesses and guide Erie’s growth in a thoughtful, sustainable way.

Why Erie?

For Kelly, Erie isn’t just where she does business — it’s home. Growing up in Niwot and now living near Broomfield, she was drawn to Erie for its strong sense of connection and community spirit.

“Growing up in Niwot, I loved the idea of a small community. My mom owned several small businesses, and we always saw Erie as a welcoming place where community really mattered.”

Erie’s small-town feel, strong relationships, and growing entrepreneurial energy made it the perfect place to build something meaningful. Tape and Twine reflects that same spirit: local, accessible, relationship-driven, and community-first.

Kelly’s mission has always been simple: support the people who live and work here, help local businesses succeed, and make Erie an easier place to build and grow.

More Than a Business

At its core, Tape and Twine is about more than products — it’s about people. It’s about helping a business owner feel prepared for a big meeting, helping a family send something meaningful to a loved one, and helping organizations present professionally and confidently to the world.

From everyday shipping needs to full-scale business branding, Tape and Twine is a true community resource — built on service, trust, and care.
